Kyra Spence is a writer from Philadelphia. She holds an MFA from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, where she was the recipient of the University of Iowa MFA Summer Fellowship. She earned her BA from Barnard College, where her work was recognized by the Sidney Minor Prize for distinction in the study and writing of poetry, the Lenore Marshall Poetry Prize, and the Peter S. Prescott Prize for Prose Writing. She has served as a reader for The Iowa Review and the University of Iowa Press Poetry Prize. She teaches creative writing and English literature at the high school and college levels. Her recent work has appeared or is forthcoming in Pine Hills Review, Parentheses, Anacapa Review, Lammergeier, Bodega Magazine, DIAGRAM, Mantis, Bennington Review, and elsewhere.
